At Blommers Coffee, competition isn’t just about winning titles—it’s about challenging ourselves and pushing the boundaries of coffee. Each competition we enter is an opportunity to refine our skills, learn from others, and connect with the larger coffee community. This spirit of competition has become part of our DNA, inspiring us to improve at every step, from sourcing the best coffees to fine-tuning our roasting and brewing techniques.

Our Journey Through Competition

Over the years, we’ve achieved some milestones that reflect our team’s dedication and hard work:

  • Best Barista Benelux – 1st Place

Each competition experience goes far beyond the results themselves. We’re constantly experimenting with new techniques, pushing our sensory skills, and gaining a deeper understanding of coffee’s complexity. Competing sharpens our focus and challenges us to try new things, often leading us to innovations that we bring back to Blommers.

Building Connections in the Global Coffee Community

Competitions are as much about people as they are about coffee. Whether we’re at a national event or an international one like World of Coffee, it’s a chance to connect with roasters, farmers, importers, and other coffee professionals. These events are where we can share insights, exchange ideas, and discover new trends and techniques that inspire us.

Meeting the farmers we work with and hearing their stories directly adds depth to what we do. It’s a unique opportunity to understand the challenges they face and to align our goals. We learn a lot from these connections, bringing new perspectives back to our team, which ultimately helps us create a richer experience for our customers.

A Culture of Constant Improvement

Each competition win is a milestone for us, but it’s also a reminder that there’s always more to learn. The experience helps us stay curious and constantly seek ways to refine our approach. Competitions are part of who we are as a team. They fuel our passion for coffee, honour the dedication of the producers, and set a higher standard for ourselves and the community around us.
