Producer and Region
This coffee comes from Finca El Recreo, a small, 5-hectare farm nestled in La Estrella, Acevedo, at 1,550 meters in the renowned Huila region. Alirio Rodriguez, a third-generation coffee producer, runs the farm with his two adult children, building on more than 30 years of dedication to high-quality coffee.
Cultivation and Processing
Alirio cultivates the Caturron variety, a relatively new and rare type in Huila, noted for its large cherries and resistance to coffee leaf rust. Only ripe red cherries are selectively hand-picked and dried naturally on raised beds. These cherries are frequently raked to ensure even drying, capturing the full depth of flavor that Caturron has to offer.
Flavour
This coffee delivers a rich, creamy mouthfeel with deep notes of blue grape, plum, and blackberry, rounded by hints of dark chocolate. The experience is layered, capturing the unique character of Huila’s Caturron variety.
