Pedro Rodriguez Escribano is growing his coffee right in the middle of the lush and tropical environment of the Barú volcano. This volcano is located in the Chiriqui province in the north of Panama and overlooks the breathtaking surroundings such as the UNESCO world heritage site La Amistad.
The farm is named after the very dark volcanic soil, which provides a mineral-rich soil with century-old trees, natural shade and perfect weather conditions.
At Baru Black Mountain they are committed to environmentally-friendly farming practices. They are using stream water to wash harvested cherries, they make their own fertilizer. Moreover, Pedro respects his team by arranging medical and educational support for their families. This coffee is washed and then dried on raised drying beds.
This is a super comfy, delicate and all day coffee. You can expect a good reflection of the terroir and a soft, balanced, and chocolaty cup with some bright and berry-like acidity.
